Choroid Plexus Targeted Treatment for Hydrocephalus.
Dr. June Goto is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Her study entitled, “Choroid plexus targeted treatment for hydrocephalus” aims to develop a gene therapy that destroys the choroid plexus, the part of the brain responsible for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) production, using a safe, virus-based delivery method. The goal of this project is to reduce excess CSF build-up in the brain to create a less invasive, one-time treatment for neonatal hydrocephalus and reduce the need for surgery.
