Dr. Julia Pazniokas is a resident in the Department of Neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Her project investigates the effect of an early intervention protocol to treat post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus in premature neonates based on radiographic criteria. She aims to better understand the efficacy of early intervention as well as barriers to adhering to an early intervention protocol. Additionally, she has aimed to characterize the natural history of post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus in patients who never required shunting. All together, the hope is to improve upon early intervention protocols to maximize neurodevelopmental and shunt outcomes while minimizing surgical intervention when it can be avoided.
