Jennifer Bechard

Jenn Bechard

As the Director of Education Programs, Jennifer Bechard provides strategic leadership for the Hydrocephalus Association’s education initiatives. She oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all educational efforts, including the national conference, scholarship program, and educational meetings and events. She also leads the development of educational publications, materials, and products that support individuals and families across the lifespan. Jennifer works closely with internal teams, medical professionals, and community partners to ensure education efforts are accessible, relevant, and grounded in credible information.

Motivated by her own lived experience, Jennifer began volunteering with the Hydrocephalus Association in 2007 and joined the organization full-time in 2011. She was diagnosed with communicating hydrocephalus at the age of ten and has since undergone more than 100 surgeries. In 2007, Jennifer and her mother launched the Detroit, Michigan WALK, which she chaired for five years. In 2009, she partnered with HA to establish a Michigan-based support group. Prior to joining HA, Jennifer began her studies in nursing at Madonna University before shifting her focus to advocacy and volunteer leadership while prioritizing her health.

Jennifer is a frequent speaker and advocate for the hydrocephalus community. She has led extensive fundraising and awareness efforts throughout her career. Her work has been recognized with the Cash, Sweat & Tears Award and the Hydrocephalus Association’s Distinguished Volunteer of the Year Award. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and friends and living life to the fullest.
