I mean, really really know it

September is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month!

This September, join us for Hydrocephalus Awareness Month as we dive deeper into what it really means to live with hydrocephalus. We all know it can be different for everyone, this year’s campaign challenges assumptions, busts myths, and puts a spotlight on the stories and struggles that often go unseen.

From weekly quizzes and personal reflections to powerful stories and practical tools, we’re inviting our community—and the public—to move beyond the basics. You’ll hear from people of all ages and backgrounds, explore lesser-known symptoms, and learn about the disparities in access to care that shape real lives.

Each week, we’ll explore a new theme—from Hydro 101 to daily life beyond surgery—while giving you tools to take action, share your story, and test what your friends and family really know.

We encourage our community to get involved by following and sharing our content on social media. Let’s make this September a month of learning, action, and visibility—for every voice, and every experience.

Test What You Really Know

Each week during Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, we’re launching a new interactive quiz designed to challenge assumptions, spark conversation, and expand understanding of what it’s really like to live with hydrocephalus.

From basic facts to invisible symptoms and access to care, these quick, engaging quizzes are perfect for:

• Learning something new

• Sharing with friends and family

• Starting honest conversations

Over 1 million people are living with hydrocephalus, a complex, life-threatening condition marked by excess accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid on the brain. There is no way to prevent hydrocephalus and there is no cure. The only known treatment requires brain surgery.
