Kayla Gray, MS, CCRP is Co-Founder and Director of the Knowledge Donor Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and a PhD candidate in Nursing and Healthcare Innovation at Arizona State University (expected graduation 2026). With a Master’s in Strategic Design and Innovation Management from Parsons and certification as a Clinical Research Professional, Kayla has built a first-of-its-kind medical education and device development platform that creates opportunities for learners and researchers alike to build competence, confidence, and autonomy while accelerating time to market for innovative medical technologies. Her work focuses on improving surgical training methodologies and healthcare delivery systems, bridging the gap between patient experience and medical advancement.
Kayla’s personal connection to hydrocephalus runs deep. After experiencing symptoms throughout her childhood, she was finally diagnosed at age 15 and fortunate to receive endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) at a time when treatment options were expanding. Living with both hydrocephalus and Chiari malformation, and having undergone a second neurosurgery in 2025, she brings firsthand understanding of the patient journey, from navigating delayed diagnosis to managing long-term care. This lived experience fuels her dedication to advancing medical education and research that can improve outcomes for future patients facing similar challenges.
