Yun C. Yung, PhD
Dr. Yun Yung is an Assistant Professor at The Scintillon Research Institute in San Diego, co-Director of SI-START (Scintillon’s biotech incubator), the chair of the Hydrocephalus Association Scientific Advisory Board, Founder and CEO of Pomelo Biosciences and Allele Cypert Technology, and Managing Owner of Pinnacle at Santa Fe Valley. He holds dual AB degrees from UC Berkeley in Molecular Cell Biology and Cognitive Sciences and received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UC San Diego. His current research covers novel hydrocephalus models, pathways, and therapeutics, use of single nuclei sequencing methodologies, and translational studies on induced pluripotent stem cells and their use in the treatment of disorders such as type 1 diabetes, neuroinflammation, and aging, using mRNA-based directed differentiated iPSCs into specific cell types and using partial reprogramming for cellular rejuvenation.
As the newest member of HA’s board of directors, Yun brings over 20 years of research and business experience and is excited to help guide HA’s scientific and research strategic vision and programs, as well as bring more stakeholders into HA’s mission and caucus. Originally from Boston, Yun now lives in San Diego with his family and is a runner, water sports and basketball enthusiast, and avid foodie.
