At the conference, Alex presented her work on new drugs that reduced ventricle size by decreasing cerebrospinal fluid production in hydrocephalus animal models. The lab is now working to determine exactly how these drugs work and if these drugs can be used long-term to maintain normal ventricle size.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-22974\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hydroassoc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Picture1-300x198.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\">This past weekend, Alex presented her work at the <strong>Europhysiology Conference<\/strong> held in <strong>London, United Kingdom.<\/strong> The Europhysiology Conference brings together members of the The Physiological Society, the Scandanavian Physiological Society, the Deutsche Physiologische Gesellschaft, and the Federation of European Physiological Societies for this three day event.<\/p>\n<p>Alex is a second-year Ph.D. student under the mentorship of Dr. Bonnie L. Blazer-Yost at Indiana University\u2013Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI). She received her B.S. in Biology with honors from Purdue University at IUPUI. Her career goal is to be a research scientist and professor in academia.
