Washington, D.C. – On July 3, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was passed by the U.S. House and Senate and signed into law by the President. The Hydrocephalus Association is deeply concerned about the bill\u2019s sweeping cuts and changes to Medicaid, which include new work requirements, cost-sharing requirements, and caps on provider taxes that fund Medicaid benefits, such as home and community-based services. This will have severe impacts on healthcare access and coverage for individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities.<\/p>\n
The Congressional Budget Office estimated the bill will result in at least 11.8 million patients losing healthcare insurance coverage by 2034. With at least one-third of hydrocephalus patients receiving coverage through Medicaid, this bill will disproportionately impact access to crucial coverage and services essential for the community.<\/p>\n
The Hydrocephalus Association is grateful to the hundreds of hydrocephalus advocates who contacted their representatives by phone and email to oppose this bill and protect Medicaid. HA will continue to fight and advocate for access to equitable and affordable healthcare coverage for the whole hydrocephalus community. Additionally, we will continue to communicate the legislation\u2019s implementation to ensure the hydrocephalus community understands the timeline of key provisions and how they will impact hydrocephalus patients.<\/p>\n\r\n
